Why Are You Here?

Why are you here?

Did you come out of religion?

To cross the T’s and dot the I’s?

To save face

Say grace

And don the disguise?

Hoping what is seen on the outside convinces others eyes?

Did you come to perpetuate the lies?

Sacrifice isn’t needed

Worship? That’s optional

My will over God’s will

This teaching is optional

Better to receive than give

I’m the consumer, Lord what do you got?

I want a message that is easy

And a Hell that’s not hot

I’m the main character, this is my plot!

…I think not…

Why are you here?

What brought you to this place?

Have you come for music and a speaker?

Or have you come to seek God’s face?

Yeah…that seems more like it

Inside of you is a fire that’s been lit

For even in your sin He saw fit

To send His only son and save you from that pit

This is true love, that I must admit

Why are you here?

Could it be to bring a sacrifice of praise?

Lord I don’t have much,

But take this life surrendered all of my days!

For unto You I want to gaze

Upon Your beauty

Father, I desire Your ways!

It’s better to give than to receive

Lord what do You want?

For at Your feet I’ll lay it down

Surrounded by many crowns

I know why I’m here!

It’s not for me, Lord it’s for You

Though I come with expectations

I don’t need an explanation

Nor a demonstration

I’ve brought my adoration

For I am lost in captivation

So…why are you here?

Please decide before we start

Who will it be?

You or the Lord

That sits on the throne of your heart?
